M/V Summer Breeze of Havre De Grace
Boat Routes
Description of our routes
We have several different routes that we have available to our captains on the M/V Summer Breeze of Havre De Grace water tour. The arrows on the map marked in light blue indicate our main route that we use. In the event of high winds, increased wake activity, or deteriorating weather conditions we will use our yellow route and if there is severe weather in the surrounding area then we will hold on the red arrow pattern in order to stay close to Havre De Grace. Our experienced and licensed captains will make the decision to alternate routes for the safety of our guests.
Our guided tour on board our vessel
Our main route departs from Frank J. Hutchins Memorial Park in Havre De Grace, Maryland. We head North towards the Lock House Mueseum. After our first talking point we pass under the Amtrak, Norfolk Southern, I95, and Rt. 40 Bridges until we get to Lee's Landing Dock Bar. From there we talk about the Conowingo Dam, Stone Query, and Port Deposit local history. Once turned around heading South we will pass on the Cecil County side of Garrett Island approaching the Town of Perryville where we talk about Roger's Tavern and some local information about the area. Once we pass under the railroad bridge we are then on a straight shot to Fishing Battery Island's which is where the views really start to open up. We discuss Aberdeen Proving Ground, The Susquehanna Flats, North East, Furnance Bay Channel, Turkey Point Lighthouse, and eventually the Chesapeake Bay. Finally we spin back around and head back to dock in Havre De Grace to conclude our trip.Even though we do not go in to the Chesapeake Bay we are able to really get an understanding of the Bay's beautiful tributaries and remarkable landscapes. History looms around every corner it seems when talking about this region. Many battles were fought and areas decimated only to be rebuilt bigger and stronger. Some of our nations most decorated and respected leaders, at that time roamed the countryside because of this area's strategic location. We are very privileged to be able to provide a way for our guests to come see what makes Havre De Grace so special.
